This body of work concerns ideas around orientalism and the fetishisation of Asian long black hair. It is comprised of video pieces played on a loop of the artist struggling amongst a mass of black hair, wrestling with and attempting to control it. The work uses the hair as a symbol of stereotypical Chinese feminine identity and the artist's conflict with the performitivity of gender in Asian culture. The style of the work takes inspiration from Asian horror films, ghost stories, and Surrealist cinema. The work as been on display at the Chinese Garden of Friendship as part of For Film's Sake Festival 2017. A live rendition of the video pieces were also performed with Virginia Rowlands at the Museum of Contemporary Art as part of Art Bar 2017 curated by Louise Zhang.
